Java goes open source - Well not quite yet

Posted on Tuesday 16 May 2006

Some interesting developments over at Sun’s headquarters in regards to Java. While they aren’t giving up the ‘keys to the castle’ at this point in time they are opening up their Java servers. Will this have an impact on BEA Systems, Oracle, IBM, JBoss and of course Adobe’s JRun - Not really as Sun’s servers aren’t that popular.

However it does take Sun another step closer in the right direction towards finally opening up Java fully to a true open source model. More will be revealed at Sun’s JavaONE conference over the next few days.

For more information CNet have an interesting take on it all - It’s a coffee time read though :P
