I see Sean has posted up a link to a great resource for audio and video codecs (courtesy of Rich Leggett).

To add to the mix I was just passed a link to Perian this morning. It’s an open source plugin to allow FLV playback via Quicktime. It’s currently only available for the Mac but hopefully this will change if it gets requests for it.

I’m just about to install it so I can’t vouch for its ‘usefulness’ yet but I will feedback once I’ve had a play.
